Each year we invite our readers to write specific forms of Spoleto-related verse and let us share them with the world. Well, we’re off and running for 2008. First, Cecil Wilson writes a Spoku:

The Spoletians are
here in full force and we cant
find a parking place.

… and then Joy Munoz chips in with some Splimericks…

The Festival of Two Worlds, is the name.
To Charleston, Maestro GianCarlo came.
He sought out our beauty,
And we’ve made it our duty
To never relinquish this fame.

…more after the jump…

More Splimericks from Joy…

From the jewel of the South, Charleston,
Grew a fest that became a lot of fun.
Artists and singers galore,
Dancers jette ‘cross the floor,
Posters announce that the season’s begun.

In Charleston each spring, there came
Shows, concerts, artists of fame.
Though some venue’s were weird
And the edge of reality was neared,
She’s a home for all arts, just the same!

Here are Joy’s Spokus…

Posters herald news
May to June fest has begun
Charleston arts bloom

Flowers, flags, banners
Charleston on display, now
World sees our beauty

Spoleto-time here
Artists of every kind
Charleston abloom

Got any of your own? We’ll take them.

One Response to “The first of the Spokus & Splimericks arrive…”
  1. Judith from Chicago says:

    Spoleto “Spoku”

    Chill North breezes blow
Bourne south on wings of bonus miles
    Toward Spoleto sun
